HillShadow is a very special book from Appalachian poet and photographer, Kenner Beckley.

I Samuel is one of the most dramatic and tragic pieces of literature ever written.  The setting is a time of extreme civil, economic, and political turmoil; a period of terror and uncertainty with a recurring theme of the inherent struggle between fathers and sons. 

Kenner Beckley’s approach is to focus on the humanity within the ancient story, to inhabit the characters, and to draw personal comparisons with regard to relationships, feelings, observations and experiences.
